Learn & Master Guitar
Learn & Master Guitar is as good as it gets when it comes to guitar training products. The set has 20 DVDs, five jam-along CDs and a 107 page book. It is one of the more expensive guitar lesson sets out there, but if learning guitar is something you are truly serious about, this is the perfect set for you. All of the tools you receive is the best of the best including the website, look of the video, and the highly skilled musicians used in the “jam along” cds.
Once you buy the course, you are given immediate access to a members-only community where you can discuss your progress, ask questions, and interact with other people taking the course. Steve Krenz, the instructor on the course, answers most of the questions himself and is very accessable should you have questions. If you are serious about learning guitar, this is the best course out there.
Jamorama.com
Jamorama is one of the better low-cost, online guitar instruction courses out there. Because it is internet-based, you will have to practice your lessons in front of the computer. However, even with that in mind, the courses are quite comprehensive and the instructional videos are pretty easy to follow.
Because the lessons are downloadable, it is easy to purchase them from anywhere you are with an internet connection. With that being said, it was somewhat inconvenient to have to take the lessons and practice in front of a computer any time I wanted to do an exercise. At $54.95 though, it is pretty affordable if that is your #1 factor when deciding on a course.
Jamplay.com
JamPlay might be a great option for you if you are on a budget and you are getting started with learning the guitar. You can become a member of JamPlay in one of three ways: a monthly membership for $19.95, a quarterly membership for $49.95, or a yearly membership for $139.95. With the membership comes over 25 hours of lessons and JamPlay also offers users content updates, instructor feedback and an impressive full money back guarantee.
Each section has more than one instructor and the different areas offer a lot of information. The videos are of good quality and we were very impressed. The instructors are very well spoken and speak at a pace that is easy to understand. Other extras included with a paid membership are a members forum and chord library. The site will also give you a progress report of your lessons. Downside? The price. at $139.95 a year, you could actually almost own other, more comprehensive guitar lesson products out there, which are yours to keep and don’t expire.
GuitarMasterclass.net
GuitarMasterClass.net features 64 instructors from around the world and a large community of users as well. Membership runs $29 for a three month subscription, $48 for six months and $90 for a year. If you are a members of the site, you can get live instruction from one of the tutors either by video feed or chat room, as well as upload your own guitar videos. You are able to look through the site by ability level, style of music you’d like to play, or instructor. You can also follow along with specific lessons to work on specific areas of your playing, or just have a look around and pick out whatever interests you.
Downside to the site is that it isn’t organized very well. I had a hard time locating the “sign up” button, and there are so many videos on the site, it is a bit overwhelming. With there being so many videos to navigate, it can become hard to know where to start.
